Dave Pickersgill
Lt Col Dave Pickersgill is a Regular Army Officer currently studying on the Advanced Command and Staff Course at the Defence Academy, Shrivenham. Dave originally started skydiving in 2012 while posted to Cyprus. Since then he has completed over 800 jumps in various locations including the UK, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Arizona, Florida and California.
This is Dave’s third year conducting parachute displays. He originally worked doing drop zone control and commentary to crowds numbering several thousand people. He subsequently qualified as a Display Team Parachutist, and has completed over 35 displays to crowds throughout the UK. Dave is a qualified Formation Skydiving Coach and is an enthusiastic Canopy Formation pilot, which is where two or more parachutists link together under their canopies in the sky and conduct relative work in close proximity to each other.
Additionally he recently qualified as a Jumpmaster and is therefore certified to dispatch team members from the aircraft during parachute displays. Dave is keenly anticipating the 2019 display season, and looks forward to flying flags and trailing smoke under canopy while entertaining crowds across the country with both the Parachute Display Team and the Royal Logistic Corps Silver Stars Parachute Display Team.
